Service Update: City prepares for limited openings

The City of Saint John is preparing to open a limited number of playgrounds, sports courts and skateboard parks for the upcoming long weekend (Friday, May 15) under the guidance of the Province of New Brunswick. City crews are working to meet guidelines. The community is reminded that these spaces remain closed until our new measures are in place.

The City will publish a list of facilities and spaces that will be opened prior to the long weekend. The City does not have the resources to operate all facilities safely, so the list will be limited until further notice. The public is asked to continue to observe all signage and barricades, not enter any areas that have not been selected for re-opening, and not remove any barricades of signage. Monitoring, repairing and replacing signage takes time away from the work required to clean and maintain structures designated to reopen.

We encourage residents to enjoy the parks that are open and respect physical distancing requirements.

For businesses planning to re-open, Saint John Water has a guide to prepare your water system available here. At a minimum, water systems in unoccupied buildings should be flushed prior to staff re-entering.

Public-facing services at City Hall will re-open on May 19 and follow rules regarding safe social distancing and proper hygiene. We ask that you allow for extra time for your visit so we can protect the safety of our workforce, and respect all Provincial orders.

We must continue to follow the orders of the Chief Medical Officer of Health so we can keep our community safe and healthy. We thank our citizens for their continued compliance, support and assistance.

Stay informed. Further updates will continue to be provided through www.saintjohn.ca
