Upgrades planned for Queen Square West

It’s good news for Queen Square west, as crews prepare to upgrade the light standards and make improvements to the park. Over the next several weeks, crews will be in the square to replace the old light standards with five new LED heritage standards, similar to the ones found in the Uptown area. The standards will also include electrical outlets, which will provide greater access and benefit to community groups that host events and activities in the park.

Additional upgrades planned for the Square this summer include the installation of new park benches, garbage receptacles, and signage, as well as repairs to the existing pathways, and minor landscaping improvements.

Work to replace the lighting standards will begin on April 14 and is expected to take two weeks to complete. During this time, citizens may notice that certain sections of the park will not be lite at night; this will be temporary to accommodate the new installations.
