Water Transmission Main Break

Various parts of the City east of the Reversing Falls Bridge are dealing with low water pressure as a result of a transmission main break that occurred in the Champlain Heights area this morning.
The break occurred on one of the City’s 24 inch cast iron water mains that dates back to the 1800s. The pipe is one of the key components to be upgraded as part of the Safe Clean Drinking Water Project.
Crews will remain on site to complete the repair until service is restored. We expect it to take 24 - 36 hours to complete the repair, as the break occurred in a challenging location that is surrounded by many other critical water system infrastructure components.
We will keep citizens informed of the progress crews are able to make with the repair and any other important updates.
