Saint John Heritage Conservation Areas By-Law HC-1

Public Notice is hereby given that the Common Council of The City of Saint John intends to consider adopting By-Law HC-1 Saint John Heritage Conservation Areas By-Law at its regular meeting to be held in the Council Chamber on Monday, September 23, 2019.  The By-Law contemplates the following amendments:

 

 

  • General housekeeping changes, including but not limited to the definitions and schedules in the By-Law, affecting all properties designated as being in a Heritage Conservation Area as defined through Schedules A through K inclusive;

  • Revising provisions regarding the demolition of buildings in the Heritage Conservation Areas, affecting all properties designated as being in a Heritage Conservation Area as defined through Schedules A through K inclusive;

  • Revising provisions around exemptions from Heritage Permits in Heritage Conservation Areas, affecting all properties designated as being in a Heritage Conservation Area as defined through Schedules A through K inclusive;

  • Removing from the By-Law all properties within the King Street West Heritage Conservation Area, as identified in Schedule G of the By-Law:

  2. 287 King Street West (PID No. 00361295)

  3. 291 King Street West (PID No. 00361303)

  4. 293 King Street West (PID No. 00361311)

  5. 300-302 King Street West (PID No. 00361402)

  6. 313-315 King Street West (PID No. 00361329)

  7. 317 King Street West (PID No. 00361337)

  8. PID No. 00361394

  9. PID No. 00361386

  10. PID No. 00418004;

    • Considering the designation of the property located at 152 Watson Street (PID No. 00362350) in the City of Saint John, and;

    •  Making an amendment regarding the allowable height and stepbacks for a proposed development at the southwest corner of Canterbury Street and Grannan Street, on the parcels of land known as PID Nos. 00011130, 00018598, 55102453, 55102446, and 55102438.

    To remove certain properties from a Heritage Conservation Area, to consider the designation of a property, to clarify the existing By-Law, and to provide for the safe and effective maintenance of designated heritage properties.

     

    The proposed by-law may be inspected by any interested person at the office of the Common Clerk, City Hall, 15 Market Square, Saint John, NB between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, inclusive, holidays excepted.

     

    The proposed By-Law HC-1 Saint John Heritage Conservation Areas By-Law may be read in summary only if no member of Council objects.
