PROPOSED MUNICIPAL PLAN AMENDMENT & ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT

RE: GREEN ENERGY DEVELOPMENT


Public Notice is hereby given that the Common Council of The City of Saint John intends to consider an amendment to the Municipal Development Plan and the City of Saint John Zoning By-Law at its regular meeting to be held in the Ludlow Room on the 8th floor of City Hall on Monday October 7, 2019 at 6:30p.m., by: 

 
1. Adoption of an amendment to the Municipal Development Plan which would:
a) Amend Section 2.4 of the Municipal Plan relating to The Rural Areas;
b) Amend Section 2.5 of the Municipal Plan relating to Lands Common to the        Primary Development Area and The Rural Areas;
c) Amend Section 7.8 of the Municipal Plan relating to Energy Efficiency;
d) Amending Subsection 3.6.1 of the Municipal Plan relating to Rural Resource      Area;
e) Amend Subsection 3.7.1 of the Municipal Plan relating to Parks and Natural      Areas.

2. Adoption of an amendment to the Zoning By-Law which would: 
a) Amend Section 2.11 and Section 9.19 to facilitate Temporary Test Facilities        for Green Energy Developments;
b) Amend Section 3.1 to include definitions related to Green Energy                   Developments;
c) Amend the Zoning By-Law to include a new zone for Green Energy                  Developments.

REASON FOR CHANGE: 
To facilitate the ability to construct green energy projects involving wind and solar energy in limited areas of the City.

The proposed amendments may be inspected by any interested person at the office of the Common Clerk, or in the office of Growth and Community Development Services, City Hall, 15 Market Square, Saint John, N.B. between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, inclusive, holidays excepted.

Written objections to the amendment may be sent to the undersigned at City Hall.
