National AccessAbility Week with the Saint John Ability Advisory Committee

The City of Saint John was pleased to participate in today’s I‑SPY Accessible Uptown SJ event, hosted by the Saint John Ability Advisory Committee, celebrating accessibility, inclusion, and community. This event is part of the Committee’s commemoration of National AccessAbility Week. This year’s campaign theme is “Accessibility Creates Full Inclusion,” and what better way to demonstrate that than through an interactive exploration of accessibility in Uptown Saint John?

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., residents and visitors explored Uptown locations using a guided map, discovering accessible spaces and learning more about how inclusive environments support everyone. Organized by the Ability Advisory Committee, the event helped raise awareness of accessibility considerations while encouraging community engagement.

City staff were proud to be part of the initiative and to see strong participation and activity throughout Uptown Saint John. Events like this play an important role in raising awareness and encouraging continued progress toward a more accessible city.

Thank you to the Saint John Ability Advisory Committee, participants, partners, and businesses who helped make the day a success.
